Job Title: Support Worker

Rumman Care are a new and dynamic Social Care organisation who are committed to the success of the young people we support. Whilst we are a new company, our two active Directors are an experienced Social Worker and a Manager who have over 30 years combined experience of working with Children and Young People and who are passionate about securing the best outcomes for them. We are also supported by a hugely experienced Operations Director.

We love tech and are almost totally paperless, which will allow you to spend more time building relationships with our young people. We build our company around the views of our stakeholders, staff and young people.

We are seeking a team of Support Workers to work in our home in Dartford.

Job Description

​

Reporting to the Registered Manager, your role is to be part of a caring team, dedicated to developing the lives of young people and to support them to live independently. You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will encourage our young people to be confident in their abilities, and to have a positive view about their future, set realistic goals and achieve these ambitions with your support. You must have a NVQ Level 3 working with young people.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

​

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people living in the home.

  • Establish trusting, positive, and warm relationships with the young people we support.

  • Ensure records are maintained, are accurate and up to date, both paper and electronic, including report writing on young people's progress, and contributing to assessments.

  • Attend staff meetings and hold meetings with young people and other professionals.

  • Plan, organise and deliver relevant and meaningful activities/workshops for young people in and outside of the home.

  • Communicate effectively with our young people and colleagues.

  • Produce and record regular health and safety checks including room searches and fire checks.

  • Cleaning tasks (Garden, Communal areas, Windows, Bathroom, Stairs, and Kitchen etc.)

  • Produce and record regular maintenance checks.

  • Engage in regular key work sessions with all young people.

  • Complete risk assessments and incident reports.

  • When necessary, attend courts, hospitals, police stations etc.

  • Work with young people to support their engagement in Education, Employment or Training.

  • Ensure house rules are followed, resolve conflict and have the ability to identify potential risks.

  • To work with young people who are at risk due to issues such as self-harm, anti-social behaviour or offending.

  • To uphold and implement the policies and procedures of the Company including customer care and health and safety.

  • To undertake continuing professional development (CPD) and to be aware of new developments, legislation, initiatives, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

 

Successful applicants would require:

 

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Children's and Young People's Services within the last 2 years

  • Previous experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour

  • You will also need to have a relevant qualification, such as a NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
