Our Services
Rumman Care provides semi-independent/supported accommodation for young people aged 16 to 24.
We welcome young people who require high support or young people involved in the justice system. We offer them a supportive environment in which they can settle, develop and grow and where a sense of belonging is nurtured thus building their confidence and trust in the adults around them.
Matching
Before accepting a young person, we use a score-based (quantitative) matching process combined with a qualitative approach to ensure that all young people supported by us do not pose an obvious risk to each other and we continue to monitor this to ensure the safety and well being of all residents.
In addition to the accommodation we provide:
✅ support with Education, Employment and training

Our Services

Supporting 16 to 24 year olds
At Rumman Care we recognise that young people’s issues including trauma, are not resolved just because they have left full-time care; we provide the ongoing support and therapeutic input they still require to prepare them to step into adulthood with confidence.
LEVELS OF SUPPORT
High support needs
We recognise that some Children and young people are very likely to be suffering from trauma due to their adverse childhood experiences. At Rumman Care we have a therapeutic ethos and as such our staff have the ability to look beyond a young persons’ behaviours and try to understand the reasons behind them, so as to support them, and deal with the true issue rather than just the presenting behaviours.
We offer tailored packages of support dependent on the young person’s needs and agreed with the young persons’ social worker or personal advisor. These can vary from 1:1 to 2:1 or even 3:1 packages of support and can be up to 24 hours duration.
We also offer counselling and therapeutic support which can take place in many forms such as art therapy, drama therapy and equine therapy.
A Trauma Informed Approach
At Rumman Care we aim to be a trauma informed organisation and understand that the young people we look after will have experienced trauma in their lives. However, we firmly believe and promote the idea that childhood adversity does not have to define who you are, and that by building resilience in children and young people we can help them to overcome adversity and lead happy, successful and fulfilling lives.
As a trauma informed organisation we understand that young people’s past experiences will affect the way in which they cope and respond to their current situation and our trauma informed approach teaches staff to be curious and question ‘what has happened to you for you to behave in this way?’ and not locate the problem in the young person by asking ‘what is wrong with you?
We at Rumman Care have high aspirations for our young people, however we recognise that progress is relative and contextual, which means that for some of them just the smallest of things like getting a good night’s sleep or attending education can represent progress. As such when a young person moves in, a thorough benchmarking assessment takes place with the input of the young person, their Social Worker and where appropriate their family. Progress can then be measured and celebrated with the young person to help build their self-confidence, self-esteem and self- belief, that they can change, improve and succeed in life.

OFSTED READY
At Rumman Care we are aware of the Government review and reform of unregulated provision for children in care and care leavers. And we are familiar with the proposed introduction of national standards for semi-independent accommodation providers and we will be registering with Ofsted at the earliest possible opportunity. The National Standards are:
Leadership and management – a standard that focuses on ensuring providers have statements of purpose and intent setting out their service offer, and the role of the staff in delivering this.
Child protection – a standard focusing on workforce plans and training, including DBS checks and location assessments.
Accommodation – a standard that ensures
the quality and suitability of the built environment is safe and secure.
Support – a standard focused on ensuring that support is provided for every young person, they have a say in what this is, and that there is a plan in place for delivering it.
At Rumman Care we are confident that we are already working to these standards and our aim is to continually exceed them.
